Beautiful black women are making us proud on the catwalks. Throughout the years more and more black beauties have made it in the model industry. Even though there has been some racism back in the day, it has gotten better. Now we have had the pleasure to see models like Jourdan Dunn on the cover of Italian Vogue and Tyra Banks on the cover of Sports Illustraded. Change is here and it is fantastic. Here I wanted to go all the way back to the late 60's and show where it all started. Love it, hate it, adore it, mimic it;
Just enjoy.
Here is the first black woman to appear on the cover of a national American magazine; Glamour College. Katit Kironde, though not a model, gave courage to black women. After her came a huge flood of new black models.
Jolie Jones, the daughter of Quincy Jones, made her appearance on the cover of Mademoiselle.
Daphne Maxwell appeared on the cover of Glamour magazine. (Better known as the second mum figure on the Fresh Prince of Bel Air).
Elizabeth of Toro made her appearance on the cover of Harper's Bazaar.
Beverly Johnson was the first black model to appear on the cover of Vogue.
